About CRIStin
CRIStin works on several tasks related to research and access to research information. This responsibility was given to the organization by Norway’s Ministry of Education and Research (Kunnskapsdepartementet) and the Ministry of Health and Care Services (Helse- og omsorgsdepartementet) covering the universities and university colleges, institutions, and health trusts.
Our Constitution states the following:
• CRIStin shall provide to research an increased societal value byfacilitating that research in several sectors are seen in context
• CRIStin shall collect and collate information for the research institutions on the principle of open access for all. • CRIStin shall alsodemonstrate, present, and make publicly available quality-assured datafor scientific publication in a national database as a basis for financingsystems in universities and colleges, research institutes and the regional health sectors.
We intend on doing this by:
•being a service provider of research information and research support for research, research institutions and authorities
• being a coordinator at the national level, within systems such as Open Access, and by the negotiation of agreements around the procurement of electronic research resources
• implement the orders of the authorities, preliminary associated with institutions reporting on their research. An important principle for all our work is to aim at simplifying and facilitating things for the individual researcher and for research institutions.
